February is such A short month it’s usually the month where you are finishing up after the holidays and the month where you start preparing for spring. Most people use the month of February to decide what it is they want to accomplish during the year. For me, I have had a hectic first 2 months getting my Empty Nesters Status in order, I have been A Mom most of my life So I am getting used to just doing me. I am thinking about of where life roads will lead me, How are you feeling? I would love to get some input here. I personally would love to become corporate free! Lol well, I can be hopeful right? I Love Potpourri during the Holidays it’s so easy to make your own. I love tangerines and oranges during the cooler months when we can open the windows and let the cool breeze into our home. Many people eat these fruits and throw the peels away, of course, I use them in my Potpourri recipe plus a few more ingredients and there you have made your own potpourri.
Homemade Holiday Potpourri
2 oranges peeled
a handful of cloves
2 cinnamon sticks
2 ounces of water
put the saucepan on the stove, add the water and the above ingredients of cloves, orange peels, and cinnamon sticks and let it simmer and there you have your own Holiday Potpourri !!
Happy Holidays Folks !!! The New Year is Coming so now is the time to reflect on the changes if any you are going to make. The New Year brings New Ideas and New Dreams or You can improve on the ones you already have. The New Year for me will bring many things, A New career, New Venture and hopefully A New Financial Status. With that Said Have A Merry Christmas and A Prosperous New Year !!
At this stage of the game, we all have some kind of skin problems whether it be brown spots, wrinkles, crows feet, blemishes or sagging skin. No amount of creams, lotions or any outside remedies can correct the problem, yes you can get a temporary fix but that only lasts for a minute.
The real fix is healing from within! If you remember my first post was about the skin. You have to heal from the inside and you will see the results on the outside. I am a firm believer in this, I love herbs because they help clean out the toxins in your body and replenish your cells so that your skin appearance improves, you will be amazed when you start seeing your skin change. Due to the damage, the sun does to the skin during the summer months the fall is a good time to repair and replenish your cells. Right now I myself am repairing and replenishing my cells. I will give you a recipe to get you started to clear your skin and help get your glow back. By getting rid of the toxins you will also realize you will shed A few pounds also.
1 Glass Pitcher
1 tsp of Ginger powder
boil a kettle of water and let it cool down
Squeeze the 2 limes into the pitcher, do not throw away the squeezed remains
Cut the limes remains into small pieces including the skin and also put into the
Add the tsp of fresh ginger juice or ginger powder
Pour the cooled water into Pitcher and Stir
Drink this first thing in the morning the results are Amazing!!!
Fall is here, Its one of my favorite times of the year. The weather is awesome, not too hot and not too cold
Living in Florida we do not really get a cold winter, but we get a chill winter as I call it.So it’s not necessary to bundle up like the northerners, but we are still able to indulge in Winter Fashion. We Floridians do get to wear white after labor day!! Florida Perks. So what would our winter gear entail? Well for starters light sweaters, jeans maybe some scarfs, boots, leather jackets. You will see a lot of Athletic Wear during the winter months here, it seems to be the Trend during the cooler months. And of course to finish your look A nice Pocketbook to Polish the Look.
We are at that time in our Lives where the kids have left home, some are newly divorced, some single for quite a while now. Just know you are not alone in your journey.
To all my Women of “Age”…Most of us are going through it….We are at that age where we see the wrinkles, grey hair, extra pounds….we see the pretty 30-year-olds and sigh….But we were once 30 too just like they will one day be our age. What they bring to the table with their youth and zest for life, we come to the table with our wisdom, experience, and good hearts. For all we’ve been through earning each grey hair….be it raising kids, paying bills, illness and whatever else life brought us over our 50 + years….We are Survivors….we are Warriors…..we are Women…..Like a classic car….or fine wine….while our exterior may not be what it once was…it is traded for our spirit….our courage…and our survival to enter this chapter of our lives with grace and pride for all we’ve been through and accomplished.
Never feel bad about aging. It is a privilege denied to many.
So I guess you are wondering why I picked the Skin as a topic well, the skin is our outer shell and its the first place you start to notice the change, the wrinkles start appearing, crows feet start crowing, lol!! skin starts sagging, etc etc.
Many of us spend lots of money trying to correct these things in the form of lotions, cremes, vitamins, some even go as far as having surgical procedures. Yes, these can somewhat help, but if you do not correct from the inside, what you do on the outside won’t last. You have to get right from within
The skin is the largest organ on our bodies.It measures about 20 square feet, The skin is our layer of protection against the environment, it covers our internal organs, so therefore it plays one of the most important parts of our lives.The skin is made up of 3 layers, The Epidermis which is the outermost layer, it provides a waterproof barrier and creates our skin tone. Beneath the epidermis is the Dermis which contains tough connective tissues, hair follicles, and sweat glands. The Hypodermis is the innermost layer of the skin, it is made of fat and connective tissue. It is important to take good care of our skin as it protects our bodies, Protecting your skin is not only an outside thing but you need to maintain your skin by nutrition and vitamins and of course water is most essential in keeping our bodies hydrated and helping flush toxins from our bodies. water is essential for circulating nutrients in our body. Your bodies are composed of about 60% water, which also regulates our body temperature and aids in digestion.I will delve into this more in my next article.
